Getting to Know You! - Glen Gilmore

5 Minutes and 10 Questions with Glen Gilmore - he has Captained the Australian National Team, and been Polo Manager of both Guards Polo Club and Ellerston

Q1: How did you first get in to Polo?

My Grandfather played and then so did my Dad. It was our weekend sport, it’s what our family did, and I loved it!

Q2: Favourite Polo Event in the world?

St Moritz snow polo - it is truly amazing, especially as I hadn’t seen snow before. The setting is second to none on the frozen lake.

Q3: Your top 3 items to take in your luggage when travelling?

Sunscreen, phone charger and my polo gear.

Q4: Best advice any one ever gave you?

Think your way around the field - Polo is like a game of chess.

Q5: Your motto to live by?

Treat others how you would like to be treated, and live life to it’s very fullest.

Q6: Your favourite La Martina piece?

My La Martina boots.

Q7: Your dream holiday destination?

Anywhere with snow so that our whole family can ski… coming from Australia, the novelty of snow never wears off!

Q8: Favourite Polo Club?

Guards Polo Club, where I have spent many happy years playing, commentating, and then in the Polo Manager’s role.

Q9: Favourite Polo Pony?

Cassie, a black Australian mare who I actually own right now.

Q10: In 5 year’s time I would like to be….

…enjoying watching my horses play polo and relaxing with my family and friends.

Thank you Glen Gilmore - an icon in the polo world and an all-round nice guy - we enjoyed getting to know you!
